If any of you seen the finals of IPL yesterday, you will now know, as a leader how to generalize failure to the team you belong to rather than accept it on you. Yes, In the presentation Dhoni mentioned that his team failed in all the 3 departments (i.e. bowling, batting and fielding). It is team's failure or his failure to provide competent team member's opportunity to fair play.
In Batting, they promoted Kapugedera instead of Badrinath in 17th 0ver which was a blunder by him. Badrinath is a known big hitter and in form. easily we could have scored 15 more runs and could have set a good target.
In bowling, again, they did not provide Badrinath an opportunity to bowl. When choice for bowler for 20th over came, again ball was given by Dhoni to balaji whose figures were 3-0-34-0. what do you expect the result of 1 over 8 runs?
In fielding it was raina and partiv patel to be blamed for dropping Y. Pathan @13 (who went to score half century) and parthiv giving away easily the bye run on a wide ball in the last over.
I guess the entire team would have felt bad on what Dhoni mentioned in the presentation. They put in their best efforts and some of Dhoni's move did not click well. Rather than attributing it against team it is better to accept failure on him. This will improve his image and make him a better person to work with.
it looks like chennai played well, but Rajasthan definitely played like champions. they deserve this victory.

Raghu,
Yes, Not having a sixth bowler is dhoni's mistake. Infact he should've asked Bhadri to bowl 17th or 18th over instead of Balaji. But the problem is, till date bhadri hasn't bowled in IPL (if i am right). In such a scenario, he was better off giving the ball to Balaji in the last over.
Infact Balaji did a good job in the final over excluding the wide, when compared to his previous 3 overs.
Regarding Kapugedera, yes that was a really stupid decision. But it was taken by Keppler Wessels as mentioned by Dhoni in Post match conference.
Overall, i think it was good of Dhoni not to take any names in the post match interviews. But you can't expect him to take the blame on him, when it's not the case. Not all team failures can be attributed to the leader. Dhoni believed in the team's performance, not just blindly but based on past performances. Yesterday was one instance where the team didn't perform well.
well, i intend to write a post about this whole Dhoni and leadership :)
Also fielding was one of the main culprits in yesterday's match.
Infact fielding has always been pathetic. I was quite surprised when he said that Fielding was also excellent
after semifinals.
Regarding Rajasthan royals, apart from Yusuf Pathan, all others were really not so great, atleast yesterday. It was only Yusuf Pathan who made the difference by taking 3 crucial wickets and taking a good score.
I see yesterday's match as a team failure over an individual victory.
Well, from what i have seen generally leaders tend to take the blame to the team rather than themselves for thats the most plausible way. If they are going to take the blame on themselves alone then it would mean free pass the culprits who really made the mistakes on the other hand if he starts pin-pointing to mistakes of members then the "uneasiness" increases more and dampens the unity in the team. In a team game players have to accept failures on the whole as a team rather than brood when their good performance did not escape them from the blame. If they start brooding then team spirit comes at stake. Well this is my opinion and yeah about dhoni he tries to do peculiar things hoping that it will turn good and rests more on his luck. That is condemnable and he would better of relying fully on ability rather. Anyway nice post bro from a true leader :)
maggi,
Its been long time i am reading this comment, pardon me for this delay.
Time has passed and we have been seeing Dhoni and his leadership styles. It does not change much. Infact it was a smart move by him to drop himself out from Srilanka test series. Do you know if he will do the same thing for a tour in England or Australia? hmm Well i am great admirer of him being cricketer he has genuine talents. What he did on that IPL match still remains in my mind. He had a chance.. he missed it.
Remember, this post is not about him alone, imagine if your boss flops something, your project is delayed, or is abandoned for no team member reason, who is the best person to say that, the person in charge of this. of course team members can contribute to this feedback session, but in today's world things are driven from deliverable perspective and not based on your talent, good and bad skills you have or dont have :-)
I guess the expectations on leaders role aint same anymore...

well Sai,
this post is not just about the presentation ceremony, it is about the missed chance when they were playing and then the hide and seek session during the presentation..
The amount of push Parthiv got and badrinath did not get says about underusage of Badri. Of course both players are in no comparison, today India team needs winners and there is no sarkari job here...
Did u watch cricket recently? all the matches? or you feel like watching swimming in DD Sports instead of Cricket?
thanks for your kind words about me,
